Our school works together with the Youth Health (JGZ) team of the GGD Brabant-Zuidoost. The team consists of a youth doctor, youth nurses and a health promotion worker. JGZ participates in the school's care structure.
What do they mean to our students?
Health research grade 1 or 2
For this health research students fill out a digital questionnaire in the classroom. This questionnaire is about physical, mental and social health. Questions are asked about illness, lifestyle and social contacts. In addition, your child will be weighed and measured. The youth nurse takes the student out of the class for a conversation when the results of the questionnaire or the screening of height and weight give rise to this. The student can also request an interview. If the team advises JGZ help or guidance, the parents will be informed.
Health research grade 3 or 4
In the third or fourth grade, all pupils complete a digital questionnaire. Parents will be informed in advance. This questionnaire is intended to identify possible (health) problems in young people on time and to provide assistance if necessary. When certain concerns or questions emerge from the questionnaire, the youth nurse takes the student out of the class for a conversation. The student can also request an interview. If the team advises JGZ help or guidance, the parents will be informed.
Health research is not mandatory. From a legal point of view, JGZ keeps an eye on the health and development of children and young people. This to detect and prevent problems in time. If a student does not participate in the investigation, the team can contact JGZ to discuss it.
Our school participates in the national approach STORM. This approach aims to prevent depression and suicide among young people in secondary education and is a collaboration between the GGD, GGzE, the schools of the Eindhoven association Kempenland and the municipality.
