Our story, our ambition

Anyone driving into the Celebeslaan sees a small metropolitan school with about 1150 students, hidden in the greenery, in a beautiful - if not the most beautiful - spot on the outskirts of Eindhoven. A place that radiates tranquility. But appearances are deceptive: there is a dynamic environment in which young people prepare themselves through havo, atheneum or gymnasium for a valuable position in society. This requires knowledge and skills, but it is also important to be socially and emotionally strong. The staff at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum guide and encourage that and challenge both the student and themselves, every day, every week.

This is us

The Lorentz Casimir Lyceum belongs to the four oldest Dutch lyceums on a general basis. A school with a rich history. That resonates into the present. As a Brainport school we feel at home in this high-tech region; there is an enterprising and innovative spirit with design thinking as its basis. Our education therefore moves along the axes of innovation & technology versus entrepreneurship & sustainability (Sustainable Development Goals; SDGs).

Our core values

The results match our ambitions. Every year we rank among the top VO schools in terms of our success rates, among other things. A close and committed team shows the way. Together we challenge students to explore: intellectually, in themselves and in the world. Students have much freedom of choice and are offered education in a safe environment. At the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum, students can and may be themselves; we are a warm school, a close-knit community. Core values guide the behavior of students and us as staff: challenge, curiosity, responsibility, togetherness, fun and respect.

Our future

The world is constantly changing and our school is moving with this changing world, always shaking up its feathers and taking steps forward to achieve the best possible climate. Soon that will be new housing. This one is green, in terms of both environment and energy use. Our new building is almost energy-neutral. And learning in the green gives peace and energy! There is a sea of opportunities for a wonderful future.

Innovation

To keep in touch with society and the learner of today and tomorrow, innovation is the key word. That is the path we are now taking. Our havo is a rock-solid educational concept that deserves its own attention. Students get to work on realistic challenges in cooperation with further education and the professional field. Therein lies the challenge for these smart doers. This motivates students who, in addition to increasing theoretical knowledge, like to be practically oriented. Athenaeum and gymnasium prepare students for academic education. They are given more freedom of choice; in addition to the regular schedule, students can develop in themes they consider important. Extra activities are offered that fit their talent development. In both educational concepts, the students' inquiring minds are addressed time and again. In the havo concept, students learn to conduct practice-oriented research, while vwo students also begin to see the difference between fundamental and practice-oriented research.

Talent development of our students

We are proud of all our students and everyone is allowed to have success experiences at this school. All courses are equally strong. Different, but equally strong. We not only train students for a diploma, we help them develop those talents they need now and later in society and further education. We visualize students' talent development in their talent passport. Pupils are thus not only educated for a diploma, but also focus on 21st-century skills and digital literacy. Pupils thus find their way in society and enter secondary education well prepared.

Additional subjects and challenges

Students are guided in their development by teachers who show the way and support them. The Lorentz Casimir Lyceum opens up the world by introducing students to numerous extra subjects, activities and realistic challenges. With our partners, school organizes olympiads, Interlyceals, and gives students an insight into the world of robotics, among other things. In all areas, we challenge students. Together we make sure they get the best out of themselves. What the best is, they decide for themselves; we also find it important that students have a great time and feel happy. At school, young people work on their future and friendships are formed. We are also just a fun school. And that helps tremendously with learning!

Extra guidance

If extra care is needed, it is available. Our school has a strong guidance team, with specializations in giftedness, dyslexia and fear of failure, among others. Young people today face many distractions and choices. In addition, students develop at their own pace. That is why the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum offers a two-year bridging period with four options, giving students more time to make the right choice for a level that suits them; havo, havo/vwo, atheneum or gymnasium. The purpose of this two-year bridging period is to give students time to land well in secondary education. We guide all students on their way to maturity to face the world openly. Together we make sure they are ready. The Lorentz Casimir Lyceum sees you and challenges you, on every stage of this wonderful journey of discovery.'
