On Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, we celebrated a special milestone: the official opening of our new school building in Eindhoven. Although the building had already been in use since August 21, this day marked the festive start of a new chapter. After 15 months of construction and a summer move, we can proudly say: it is a modern, sustainable and future-oriented building ready for generations to come.
The opening began with inspiring words from our rector/administrator Rob van Velthoven and student council president Thijmen Haverkorn van Rijsewijk, followed by an engaging panel discussion with the construction partners. They shared insights about the construction process and the challenges along the way. A special moment was the unveiling of a painting created by our own staff. This artwork, which has a prominent place in the building, symbolizes the cooperation within our school. Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers then spoke about the importance of our sustainable building for education and the city of Eindhoven. The day ended festively with a collective song and a pleasant drink.
The new building combines modern architecture with green, peaceful surroundings. Large windows provide plenty of light and inspiring views. The layout provides overview and structure thanks to knowledge domains such as language, sports and binask. Modern facilities, including work squares, a science lab and studios, encourage both collaborative and independent learning. There is even a private break room in the central void for early graders.
Sustainability was central during construction. The building was constructed with energy-efficient and circular materials, resulting in minimal nitrogen and CO2 emissions. This way we contribute to a more sustainable future and a small ecological footprint.
With this building we set a new standard for modern and future-oriented education. It is not just a building, but a place where students develop, cooperate and grow. We are proud of this milestone and look confidently to the future we will build here together!
